PS Plus members will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version of 'Final Fantasy 7 Remake'

Any PS Plus members who own Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version.

"PS Plus subscribers who previously redeemed Final Fantasy 7 Remake via PlayStation Plus will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version of the game," Square Enix stated on Twitter.

This implies that anyone who owns Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PS Plus will be able to download the PS5 version – Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade – without needing to buy the new game.

A new DLC (downloadable content) for the Intergrade edition follows ninja Yuffie Kisaragi as she attempts to steal a powerful materia from Shinra. There are also some important visual enhancements for the game, such as a Quality Mode that runs the game at 4K resolution at 30 frames per second. In comparison to the PS4 version, Intergrade features better lighting and loading speeds.

PlayStation Plus subscribers aren't the only ones who can acquire the improved remake. After unveiling it at The Game Awards with a new video, Square Enix launched Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade for the PC last week (December 16).

Unfortunately for PC gamers, the long-awaited port's release has been plagued by problems. Fans have grumbled about the game's expensive £70 price tag, which was apparently solved by removing it from the storefront until it was released.

There have also been complaints about the game's performance on PC, with claims of stuttering FPS and poor optimization since the debut.

In other news, Resident Evil Village has been named the game with the most completions in 2021. While Capcom's horror game took first place, Metroid Dread from Nintendo wasn't far behind. Both games won prizes at The Game Awards this year, and they're among our top picks for the year.
