Skull & Bones has been delayed once again and will instead be published in 2023

Skull& Bones, Ubisoft's long-awaited pirate adventure title, has been pushed back once again.

During its latest financial report on Tuesday May 11th , the developer discussed the status of the upcoming title, stating that it "will now be published in 2022-2023." Ubisoft's chief financial officer Frederick Duguet said in a conference call with investors following the report that development has been "progressing well" over the past year, but he didn't provide a reason for the game's further delay.

Although he believes “in the team’s creative vision and they have been given an increasingly ambitious mandate for the game”. He has brought on additional help to assist in the game’s development. “We increased the associate studios that are working with them at the moment so there’s a good and big team now working on the game,” he said, “and the last 12 months have really been good in terms of the way things were coming along, so we are confident they can really bring something really exceptional for the market.”

Skull& Bones' creative director Elisabeth Pellen discussed the game's delay in a letter to fans in September 2020, in which she also briefly explained what fans might expect from the team in the future and reaffirmed her team's commitment to releasing the title. Let’s hope the game releases soon.
