Question, the studio behind The Blackout Club co-op horror game, is looking for a lead level designer for a new game "based in the world of South Park." Despite the fact that the studio contains people who worked on past South Park games such as The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole (as well as the Bioshock series, Dishonored, and Thief: Deadly Shadows), it doesn't appear that the next South Park game will be a singleplayer RPG.
Experience delivering a multiplayer game is required, and among the responsibilities is the production of "levels chock full of aesthetically captivating moments and interesting tactical decisions," according to the job description. Question would be a good pick for a game that isn't just South Park Battle Royale or something, having previously produced a game that did some intriguing things with multiplayer. I'm crossing my fingers.
According to a Bloomberg piece from last year about the $900 million contract South Park's creators inked with Viacom, some of that money was invested in a videogame. However, it also stated that the game would be created in-house by an in-house studio, implying that there are presently two South Park games in development.
That Viacom contract included not only six more seasons of South Park, but also 14 features for Paramount+, which will "build on the existing world" of South Park. Given that Question's game is "set in the world of South Park," it's possible that it's part of a larger "South Park universe" arrangement.
